Course: From UMBC, to Elicott City and back.

Pace: 14.6 mph

Comments: Tom and I (Mike) went on a casual ride to Elicott City, via New Cut road. On the trip back to campus we took Trolly Line Trail #9 which is a very gradual hill, great alternative to going up Gunn, S. Hilltop, or Frederick.

Road Ride18 Sep 2008 02:08 pm

Course: From UMBC, down rolling road to Potapsco then around the BWI loop.

Pace: 16.5 mph

Comments: Going down rolling road we ran into on of the Adventures for the Cure riders and he joined us. Had a nice long stretch of road which we all kept a brisk 25 mph pace on. I dipped off halfway around the BWI loop to return to Baltimore, not sure the path everyone else took back to UMBC>

Road Ride02 Sep 2008 08:35 am

Course: From UMBC, through Elicott city and north to Randallstow, accross to Eldersburg and then back down to umbc through Marriotsville, and Patapsco state park.

Pace: 14 mph

Comments: First group ride of this semester, pace took a drastic dive at the end as my body became completely depleted of all energy.  This is only the last 30 miles of the 45 mile ride….. forgot to record the first 15, but they were basically just going down 144 through Ellicot city then north to Randallstown.

Ray Klug summed up today’s event well in the following:

Hi Guys,

First, I would like to thank everyone who participated and donated in our First Annual Cycle-a-thon, as well as our sponsor Race Pace Bicycles as represented by Jon Posner. Thanks to Jon and Race Pace, more han 3/4 of the cyclist population on this campus are able to get around more easily and at no cost.

As I had said, our event was truly a success. Not only did we reach\r\nout to the UMBC community and increase awareness of our club, but we also\r\nmanaged to raise $167 to the club through T-shirt and bottle\r\nsales. More importantly, through our all day cycling efforts, we were\r\nable to raise a total of $387.52 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Again, thanks to all who participated. Photos of the event, including photos of us with Team Adventures For The Cure, who rode this afternoon, will be posted shortly.

Thanks,
Ray Klug
